Your input and participation is of great value. The Parent Leadership Network utilizes a moderated format. All e-mail submissions are screened by a member of the National Parent Leadership Team® to be sure the following guidelines are observed.
- Privacy is important to all of us. Members agree not to use any information about other members, including e-mail addresses, for any purpose other than to discuss and/or promote parent leadership and shared leadership in this online community. The Parent Leadership Network will not sell or share member email addresses to outside parties.
- The moderators will not post any messages containing jokes, inspirational or chain letter emails. Such emails add bulk to the system.
- Participants are encouraged to share parent leadership activities related to informing elected officials, promoting policies and legislation that support children and families and promoting National Parent Leadership Month. The moderators will not post partisan political statements or any statements that are not respectful of diverse beliefs.
- This e-mail group is not designed for discussions on parenting, childrearing issues or other personal relationship issues. We encourage parents who wish to have this type of mutual support to contact a local Parents Anonymous® Group or other family support program.
- It is possible to reply to the entire list serve or to individual members. When members post information, their e-mail will be displayed in the “from” section of the e-mail header. Before you send an email, consider whether it is aimed at the entire group or just one or two people. If the email could be of interest to many of the members of the list serve, or is part of an ongoing group discussion, by all means, send it. But if it is directed at a specific person and does not add to the discussion, send it only to that person. This may particularly be the case when you want to send supportive acknowledgement to another member with such short messages as “That's great” or “Congratulations.” These are important responses when members post their activities. Sending your response directly to the other member will help reduce the size of e-mail in member's in-boxes without taking away from the overall discussion.
- No solicitations of any kind will be allowed.
Remember, the Parent Leadership Network is not designed to respond to crises situations. In any crisis, be sure to call your local 911 telephone number. If you want to report suspected child abuse or neglect, contact your local child protective service agency or police department. To locate your state's child abuse reporting number, go to http://nccanch.acf.hhs.gov/general/statespecific/index.cfm.
